Kala Kruthi School of Indian Classical Music was founded in 1994 by Smt Shobha Sekhar and is now reputedly accredited by Music Academy, Chennai.
South Indian Carnatic vocal and veena classes are conducted with a view to educating and imparting knowledge of this ancient art form to all aspiring students including the immigrant Indian population who have made Australia their ‘Home’.
Smt Shobha Sekhar is the artistic director and guru of Kala Kruthi. She is an internationally and nationally acclaimed Carnatic artiste and has given a number of concerts and lecdems in Australia and around the world. Smt Sekhar’s dedicated tutelage and training under some of Carnatic music’s greatest exponents, such as Sangeetha Kalanidhi Smt DK Pattammal, Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri DK Jayaraman, Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri RK Srikantan, Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri KS Narayanaswamy, and Sangeetha Kala Acharya Sri Bombay S Ramachandran, is evident in her refined musical style and technical excellence with its adherence to the traditional precepts of this venerable art form.
All students are required to sit Graded exams, assessed by examiners nominated by Chennai Music Academy.
The exams have stringent standards and approved by Chennai Music Academy.
Senior students coach beginners under the direct supervision of Shobha.
Vivek Nagesh, Vaishnavi Srinivasan, Jaya Puvanenthiran, Kaarthika Thiru, Soumya Buyya & Subanu Maheswaran are currently coaching the Beginners.
